Welcome to the First Nations Forest Inventory Initiative (FNFII). The purpose of this website is to provide current forest inventory information for First Nations forest lands across Canada as well as relevant statistical information related to First Nations forestry. The inventory data provided in this website was generated from the Earth Observation for Sustainable Development of Forests (EOSD) satellite land cover map and forest biomass map of Canada (circa 2000). Models and inventory data from the National Forest Inventory (Boudewyn et al. 2007) were employed in the production of the national forest biomass map.
The information related to forest inventory and other attributes includes data for registered reserve and settlement lands. The objective is to provide as recent a picture as possible of forest lands under the direct control and management of First Nations.
